Having fun today on Placespotting.com… it’s sort of a geography puzzle based on Google Maps. Some of them are arbitrarily hard (and with non-English clues) but some of them are really intriguing.
Here’s one I made:
Some of you may know that I sometimes lean toward a more liberal interpretation of copyright laws, particularly in the matter of PC games. On the other hand I always do make an effort to reward the folks who are doing really good work; those are the games I buy at least one copy [...]

I’ve been texting more lately (thanks mostly to Heather, Alex and maybe a little Dawn) and was just looking through my cell phone’s custom dictionary, where it puts the words that I have to teach it how to spell. It made me realize that the “custom” words we use are a nice little snapshot [...]
I am feeling artistic today. Look what I made:

Okay, well. Things seem to be stable at the moment – Dreamhost put me on a new server and so far response times seem acceptable, I haven’t noticed the flakiness I was seeing on my old server. Of course if you do see anything unusual please let me know.
So, still feeling a little [...]

Remember Microsoft’s PlaysForSure DRM (digital rights management) technology?
Well, it doesn’t play for sure on the new Microsoft Zune.
Word is (though I can’t find a link right now) that Microsoft spokesbots are actually recommending that Zune users break Microsoft’s own DRM (and by extension, violate the DMCA) in order to use PlaysForSure media with [...]
In a remarkable accomplishment, a team of scientists and astronomers led by Doug Clowe of the University of Arizona at Tucson have uncovered direct proof of the existence of long-hypothesized dark matter. See NASA’s press release here, a nice article by National Geographic here, and an amazing first photograph here.
UPDATE: Fellow MeFite and [...]

The long awaited1 Colophon page is now up, and it’s chock full of tasty linky goodness.
1 Well, yes, I realize that you weren’t waiting for it. “Long awaited” is perhaps not entirely true, at least not in any universal sense. It was bugging me that it wasn’t done though. So there it is.
