No, it’s not Kirby in blackface. It’s the mascot for Songbird, a new tool built on the same Mozilla foundation as Firefox. It’s billed as a “desktop Web player, a digital jukebox and Web browser mash-up.”
Does the world really need an iTunes/Firefox collision? Beats me. But it plays most anything, and it supports the same kind of extensibility and skinning that’s made Firefox so customizable, so already I’m inclined to feel kindly toward it. Definitely a project to keep an eye on.
