Let’s revisit some of our other top stories over the last few months. (Last few months where there were stories to revisit, I mean.)

• Steve Irwin, sadly, is still dead. The stingray is still at large.

• Reconstruction of the dome of that cathedral in St. Petersburg that burned so dramatically last August is scheduled for next year. Per RIA Novosti, the governor of St. Petersburg is hoping to see restoration complete by fall of next year, though other estimates put the restoration time at around 18 months. Here’s how it looks now, minus that central dome. (By the way, doesn’t it totally look like these folks were photoshopped onto the picture? Like there was some kind of “have your picture taken in front of the burning cathedral” deal going on at Glamour Shots?)

• I did end up purchasing a new bike to replace the one that was stolen right after the Portland Bridge Pedal this summer. The new one is a Jamis Quest. Here are some pictures of it. In some ways it’s a better bike than the Trek, and I do like it, but… I dunno. I have to admit that the theft of the bike took some of the wind out of my sails, as far as Portland biking in general. Maybe things will be better in the spring, though – I’m sure I’ll be itching to get back out once things warm up and dry out a bit.

• Floyd Landis is still working to clear his name, having requested on 11 September that the US Anti-Doping Agency review and dismiss his case. (See his arguments here at Box.net, if you’re curious.) Seems unlikely that there will be any definitive answer to the question of his innocence or guilt anytime soon, which is a shame, because it casts a shadow over the entire sport in the meantime.

UPDATE to the update – the folks at Trust But Verify are monitoring the Landis saga and point out that I’m a bit behind. There’s a wealth of information on their site – in particular the current status and timeline pages look quite useful – so if you’re following the Landis story at all, stop by TBV and say hello.
