fire in st. petersburg

Major fire in the Trinity Church in St. Petersburg today, which I wanted to comment on here primarily because it yielded one of the most striking photos I’ve seen lately. Still, it’s tragic.
Funny – like Randal from Clerks (who hates people but loves gatherings), I hate most organized religion, but I can really appreciate a beautiful church. Some of those domes you see on Russian and Greek Orthodox churches are stunning.
What exactly is the lady doing? Just on an afternoon stroll?
Good question. It must have been sort of surreal, walking through there. Sort of apocalyptic, even. Maybe she’s dazed.
[...] Reconstruction of the dome of that cathedral in St. Petersburg that burned so dramatically last August is scheduled for next year. Per RIA Novosti, the governor of St. Petersburg is hoping to see restoration complete by fall of next year, though other estimates put the restoration time at around 18 months.
