Initial reports confirm that Floyd Landis was probably doped during his Stage 17 performance in the Tour de France.
And just like that, enthusiam evaporates and condenses into cynicism and bitterness. Even in the (apparently unlikely) event that Landis is exonerated, it’s too late – it’ll never be the same.
Side note – I posted about Floyd Landis’s Tour de France originally down here, and because I was disappointed and angry about this latest revelation, I hid the post. I do understand that it’s bad form to go deleting and hiding posts, though, and it did reflect the way I felt at the time, and as friend Judy points out, the jury is still out on this doping thing, so I have made it visible again. I’d like to think that we were right to feel good about this win. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
