fun with brains

Today I’ve been reading a book called Mind Hacks, from O’Reilly (the people who do all the animal books). Lots of fun stuff in here. I particularly liked this bit, in a section called Mapping your Blind Spot:
Here’s a fun way of playing with your blind spot. In a room of people, close one eye and focus on your index finger. Pick a victim and adjust where your finger is until your blind spot makes his head disappear and the background takes its place. Not very profitable, but fun, and not as obvious as making as if to crush his head between your thumb and index finger.
Definitely worth a read if you happen to run across a copy.
In (mostly) unrelated news, I have officially given up on SmartFTP. Irritating licensing reminders are one thing, but way too many timeouts and dropped transfers are something else entirely. It could be that some of these issues are caused by the pureFTPd configuration at my host, but when I switched to FileZilla, they all went away. Plus FZ is open source and GPL, which is always a plus. Anyway, so far so good.
Well macadmiaa nuts, how about that.
